A few things to remember when choosing a domain name... 1. Shorter is better... You want a name that is short and simple; something that your visitors can remember. For example, something like trucks.com would be better than 2008chevroletredtrucks.com. 2. Easy to spell... Make sure your domain name is easy to spell. For example, beautifultrucks.com may sound like a good name but the word beautiful is a word that is commonly mispelled. So try to stay away from words that are commonly mispelled. 3. Relevant or Unique... Make sure that they domain name that you choose is relevant or unique to the product or service that you are selling on your website. For example, basketball.com would tell me that my website has something to do with basketball. But you could also pick a unique or fun type of domain name such as google.com, godaddy.com, etc... With a domain name like this you would have to educate your visitors what your site is all about... but the cool thing about it is that it is a unique name that they could remember. It would also stand out from all the other sites that may offer something similar to what you. 4. .com... Try to use a domain name with a .com extension. The reason for this is that everyone on the internet thinks .com first before thinking of extensions such as .net or .org. 5. Trademark... Make sure the domain that you choose is not trademaked. Be careful when choosing a domain name that has a company name or a company product in it. For example, Harley Davidson is a trademarked name, and if you were doing a domain search and found that harley-davidson.com was available, chances are it still falls under the trademark category. 6. Make sure the domain name that you want is available before building your site around that specific domain name.
