StumbleUpon - One of the Best Sources of Traffic Online

StumbleUpon

When used correctly, StumbleUpon can be one of the best sources of traffic on the internet. I have often heard people cite that StumbleUpon is second only to Google in terms of the traffic volume they receive! WOW!

Here you can connect with friends and meet people that have similar interests as yourself. As it's tagline "Discover Your Web" implies, StumbleUpon is a site that helps you discover sites with topics that interest you. Once you become a StumbleUpon member, you can begin browsing sites that other members have "Discovered."

You can do this with the help of a toolbar installed in your browser called… A stumbler's toolbar (see Figure 26 below). You are not a certified stumbler if you don't have a StumbleUpon toolbar installed in your browser.

The "Stumble!" button is where the fun starts. Once clicked, you will be jumped to a site that fellow stumblers have discovered and marked with a thumbs-up ("I like this."). And when you click the Stumble! button again, you will be transported to another site with topics covering the category that you choose during sign-up.

However, if you don't like the site that you've stumbled upon, you can anytime mark it with a thumbs-down ("No more like this.") so that the next time you start stumbling, you won't stumble to that same site again. StumbleUpon also learns what you like and makes better recommendations.

Stumbleupon is also a great place to meet new people. You can add a member as a friend and share to him your stumbles and favorites (with the thumbs up). You can search for friends based on interests or likes.

One of the best ways to gain friends is by commenting to stumbles made by fellow members. Requesting someone to add you as a friend without introducing yourself or communicating with the other person through forums or comments might turn that person off and not add you in his or her roster of stumbler friends.

You can stumble on about anything… if you liked a video or a specific page of a site, you may give it a thumbs-up and add it to your list of favorites.

Photos, articles, news -- there is no limit to what type of information or site you want to add to stumbleupon. If you were the first person to give the site a thumbs-up, you will be prompted to add a site description, which will serve as a guide to future stumblers.

How to use StumbleUpon:

· Personalize your page (tell people who you are and share with the community what you like in the
Interests section.

· Stumble often… stumble upon other peoples pages
· Do NOT stumble upon your own pages
